About the Newark VFD

Newark Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is a non-profit (501c3) organization that provides fire protection and EMS first response to the town of Newark, Vermont. Independant of the Town of Newark, the NVFD is supported by the town and it's residents with an annual appropriation to fund our operations as well as generous donations from the public.

Newark is a town of approximately 581 residents, and more who vacation here during the summer on camps in the rural woods and on the shores of several ponds. The department responds to fire and medical emergencies within the town, as well as responding as requested to assist our mutual aid partners in other towns. We are a member of two mutual aid organizations that covers most of Orleans and Caledonia counties. Medical emergencies are primarily served by the local EMS/Ambulance provider Lyndon Rescue. We currently operate with twelve firefighters, three of whom are also registered Emergency Medical Technicians, one junior firefighter, an Engine, a Tanker, a light Rescue, and a Utility trailer. Our members are not compensated from their time but do enjoy a few benefits to department membership as volunteers. We conduct in-house training as well as send members to regoinal fire schools, Emergency Medical Technician certification classes, mutual aid trainings, and Vermont Fire Academy courses.
